OpenAI sets sights on Japan office

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is looking to open an office in Japan following a meeting between its CEO Sam Altman and Fumio Kishida, the country’s prime minister, Reuters reported.

The government would be interested in adopting OpenAI’s tech, including its ChatGPT chatbot, as long as privacy and cybersecurity issues are addressed, said Hirokazu Matsuno, Japan’s chief cabinet secretary.

ChatGPT-4, the version of the program touted as the smartest so far, is still said to “make reasoning errors” and has a tendency to “hallucinate” or to “produce content that is nonsensical or untruthful in relation to certain sources,” according to a recently releases research paper.
