Life lessons: from ghetto to MNC to the startup world (Singapore Meetup)

SG-meetup-2014

Rosaline Koo is a fascinating character. Raised in a Los Angeles ghetto, the constant bullying made her tough as nails. She then supervised two production lines in a factory at P&G, jumped into investment banking, and then founded a couple of startups in Malaysia during the heady dot-com era. Later, she headed back into the corporate world by heading employee benefits broker Mercer’s Asia-Pacific operations. That experience led her to start CXA, an enterprise tech company that uses big data and internet technology to improve how employee benefits are done.

In line with her atypical life story, Koo’s company also started in an unusual way. While still bootstrapping, CXA acquired Pan Group, the the third-largest homegrown group insurance brokerage in Singapore. Yet, one year in, it already has customers like Google Malaysia, American Express in Singapore, the Seagate office in China, and other Fortune 500 companies.

If you’re an entrepreneur yourself, or even just someone navigating life’s challenges, there’s a lot she can share with you. Join us at Tech in Asia Singapore meetup on 17 September at 7pm where you can interact with her on:

  • Lessons from the dot-com days and her life in the corporate world, and what those experiences taught her.
  • Scaling her startup from scratch to over 70 employees, and how she leads the team.
  • Challenges of running a company with limited resources, and how that can be overcome.
  • What does it take to be an entrepreneur, and what kind of routine should one have?

The event will be held at SingTel Comcentre, SingTel Podium Theatrette, Level 3, 31B Exeter Rd, Singapore, 239733.
