Bangun Rancang Indonesia Kita (BRIK), an Indonesian construction material aggregator, has raised nearly US$12 million in a pre-series A round, Tech in Asia understands.

The startup, which caters to both institutional customers and retail outlets, aspires to be a nimble version of leading global construction material players, such as Saint Gobain, Holcim, Knauf, and CSR.

BRIK offers low-cost, sustainable products such as ready-mix concrete, instant concrete, paints, and specialty chemicals developed in its labs in India, Indonesia, and China. The goal is to drive down the cost of construction materials.

In some cases, BRIK also uses manufacturing facilities of third-party providers and distributes directly to contractors and homeowners.
