Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Curtain Call may get an international release

Square Enix’s Final Fantasy series is one of the biggest names in the gaming world, and like all good game series, it has expanded into different genres. Last year Theatrhythm incorporated your favorite characters and music from the series into one fantastic rhythm game for Nintendo 3DS.

The game had three different modes of gameplay that all use a rhythm based system. You can challenge monsters in a party of four and attack by tapping and sliding to the beat. There is a more relaxed walking mode which focuses more on sliding the stylist with the music. Finally, there is a vintage mode that allows you to relive your favorite FF scenes as you tapped along to the music.

The game was an immediate hit with fans of the series. So much so that Square Enix promised an upgraded version that is set to release in Japan later this Spring. Before now there was no word on an international release, however Deculture reports finding a new trademark for “Curtain Call” in Europe. Is this a sign that the 3DS rhythm game will get an international release? I hope so!

It has already been announced that the Japanese version of Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Curtain Call will feature over 200 songs and 60 characters from the Final Fantasy series. Be warned though, like the previous game these characters have taken on a Chibi art style, and you may be overwhelmed by their cuteness.
