Google Acquires Mobile Ad Firm For 750 Million

It seems like Google has passed the recession stage and is now actively looking to acquire more companies to build its already impressive portfolio. Well, β€œonce a month” is what CEO Eric Schmidt planned for 2 months ago, and it’s coming true today.

This time round, Google splashed $750 million on a privately held mobile advertising company, AdMob.

It has been driving hard on its Android smartphone OS, and with the increasing usage of smart phones, the acquisition of a mobile advertising company is definitely rational.

More from Google VP of Product Management, Susan Wojcicki

β€œMobile advertising has enormous potential as a marketing medium and while this industry is still in the early stages of development, AdMob has already made exceptional progress in a very short time.”

mobile-webMobile web the next big thing?

With talent, cash and a large number of loyal users, Google is definitely dominating the mobile search industry. This acquisition could  very well be Google’s bet towards the mobile web future.

Every rising industry brings in new opportunities. (Think: how iPhone boosted the applications industry while social sites created the sales of virtual goods)

It’s definitely a privilege to live in a time like this, when vast ideas are transformed into blue ocean industries.
