Hello reader,

I just got back from a weekend trip to Bangkok, and I must say, getting on a plane for the first time in over two years was quite an experience. It certainly felt a little odd to go through all the motions of air travel, but it was great to travel again.

Now, I’ve started thinking about where else I could go for a vacation, especially for weekend getaways. A strong candidate is Vietnam – I’ve only ever been there once when I went on a family trip to Ho Chi Minh City as a child, so there’s a lot of the country that I’ve yet to see and explore.

You’re probably wondering where I’m going with this. Well, in this very smooth segue, I’d just like to say that Vietnam has a lot going for it – both as a tourist destination and the home of a growing startup scene.

And on that note, today we look at:

  • Some rising startups from Vietnam
  • What fresh funding will do for this GameFi firm
  • Other newsy highlights such as Lummo’s layoffs and Razer Fintech’s latest acquisition

Viva la Vietnam

Vietnam’s an exciting market right now. The success of Axie Infinity has attracted global attention, and the country’s tech and startup scene, even beyond the crypto and GameFi space, is on an upward trajectory. Let’s take a look at some of its rising companies.

  • Going green: Climate change is real, and one way people are trying to address the issue is by reducing single-use plastics. That’s where Equo comes into the picture: the firm offers 100% plastic-free and compostable solutions for everyday single-use items including drinking straws, utensils, and stationery.
  • Hot property: Buying a home can be tricky – it’s an issue that proptech firm Reti is trying to solve. Through its online-to-offline distribution model, it aims to bridge the gap between traditional and modern real estate distribution.

  • Going social: Since social commerce is hot in Southeast Asia, it’s no surprise that Aemi, which connects social commerce entrepreneurs directly with brands across the region, has raised funds recently.
