Tencent's "new" fighting game is just actually another old Korean import
We’ve been wondering about Kgame for a few weeks, and thanks to yesterday’s Tencent press event, we finally have some answers. The game’s real title is 王牌对决 (loosely: Trump Card Showdown), but you’ll probably recognize the English title: Lost Saga. Yes, although this game was originally rumored to be original Tencent IP, it is not; it is instead a new Chinese version of the MMO brawler that Korean developer I.O. Entertainment first launched several years ago. In retrospect, I should have seen that coming.
Lost Saga features multiple game modes including a team-based 3D brawler mode and a very traditional 2D 1v1 fighting mode. Check out the announcement trailer below; the actual gameplay footage starts around the 2 minute mark.
As you can see, in addition to the fictional heroes we wrote about previously, the game will also feature characters from the King of Fighters series and the Blazblue series. And if the Chinese game is anything like the versions available in other countries, there will likely be many more heroes to come, including additional premium heroes from other gaming franchises.
Chinese gamers will get their first taste of Lost Saga in May when the game enters its first round of beta in the country. But none of this seems so exciting now that we know this isn’t really a new Tencent game but rather another old Korean import…
