The biggest digital expo in Indonesia, IDBYTE, will be held from July 11 to 14 at the Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place, Jakarta.
The event is intended to express appreciation for the Indonesian Digital industry and is supported by the government through the Ministry of Commerce.
At a press conference on April 26 in Jakarta, Indonesian Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said, “This activity is [geared towards] developing Indonesia’s creative industries. Therefore, the government had supported this activity.”
The event will bring speakers from international companies like Facebook, eBay, Google, Yahoo and many more. In addition, there will be workshops, exhibitions and the seventh Bubu Awards. The Bubu Awards include four categories: the Digital Campaign Award, the Web Awards, the Mobile App Award, and the Digital Talents Award.
The judges will be Julian Persaud (Managing Director, Google Southeast Asia), Michel Mommejat (Regional Network Development Director, Wunderman Asia), Sutanto Hartono (President Director, PT Microsoft Indonesia), Erik Meijer (Vice President Director, PT Bakrie Telecom) and Betty Alisjahbana (QB International, former President Director of PT IBM Indonesia).
The chairwoman of IDBYTE, Dhanuwardoyo Shinta, said Indonesia many potential users and gifted talents that can help raise the digital industry. As we have seen by the Indonesian community’s high interest in using social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, Indonesia shows its identity as a country that has a high appreciation of the digital world. Hopefully events like IDBYTE can encourage even more growth of digital industry and economy in Indonesia through e-commerce, as well as through investors who would continue to support it.
