Acer Iconia Tablet Hits Indonesia, Ready For A Fight

Acer Iconia A500 launches in Indonesia

The tablet computer market in Indonesia has a new play, the Acer Iconia. It was announced this past Tuesday, and today the Acer Iconia A500 series goes on sale in Jakarta.

The Iconia is running Google’s Android operating system 3.0 Honeycomb, designed especially for tablets, and is powered by a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. With a capacity of 16 and 32GB drives, the Iconia is also fitted with a USB port and a MicroSD slot. This tablet’s software looks impressive too, capitalizing on Indonesia’s love for social media, as the Social Jogger feature allows users to manage their Twitter and Facebook accounts.

The Iconia also has a dual camera which supports both video calls and and video recording, and is complemented with stereo speakers and Dolby Mobile technology for improved sound quality.

The Iconia’s arrival in Indonesia may be a little behind Apple’s iPad, RIM’s Playbook, and even the Axioo Picopad, but it is well-equipped to at least compete in the Indonesian market. With a competitive price, Taiwanese manufacturer Acer just might be able to attract some attention from Indonesian consumers.
