Legend of Fighters is a Korean side-scrolling RPG that looks great and just entered open beta
You could be forgiven for not having heard of Legend of Fighters if you’re living outside Korea given that the game isn’t playable anywhere but there yet. But make no mistake, GalaxyGate’s Legend of Fighters, which enters open beta in Korea today, looks pretty damn amazing.
Legend of Fighters is a side-scrolling action multiplayer RPG. In it, players will choose a hero class, create a character, and then battle, 2D-fighter style, through a variety of of levels and bosses, unlocking new skills and moves as they go along.
The game itself has an interesting, cartoony look around it. Combined with the over-the-top fighter animations, it works very well. You can check out all four of the game’s playable classes in motion in this trailer, which shows off the core gameplay of Legend of Fighters.
Looks pretty sweet, right? Unfortunately, for now the game is only available in Korea, so if you’re not located there you’re probably out of luck. But interestingly, the game’s teaser trailers have shown that it does have an English-language interface, so it seems like it’s only a matter of time before Legend of Fighters spreads to other areas of Asia, and possibly even the West. Check out this trailer which shows more of the game’s UI, character creation (which seems pretty minimal), and reveals an English-language interface for the game:
