Is South-east Asia tech scene overly-hyped? IMHO, I think so!
How many billion-dollar startups are there in South-east Asia to make financial sense in investing?! (someone please explain). A google search tells me billion dollar tech companies in South-east Asia are VNG, Garena, and soon to be Traveloka. They are big but it still beats me how they can exit. There’s no exit market here…
And looking into the future, how many of the founders in South-east Asia region can have the 5 Ps described here so the region can give birth to more billion-dollar startups to make sense out of all those big fat million-dollar investments?
Too much money are being thrown around with no results and it’s very painful to see. That’s a lot of money even if you just count the last quarter. That’s money that can be used to solve more worthy issues like education and hunger.
