Temu, the ecommerce platform owned by PDD Holdings, has extended its global expansion by entering South Korea, its second Asian market after Japan according to the South China Morning Post.
Based on its website, Temu is now available in 27 markets. The platform is working with third-party operators in South Korea to provide local delivery services, the report said.
A recent post by venture builder Momentum Works suggested that Temu could venture into Southeast Asia as it is conducting a seller study focusing on the region as well as Japan and South Korea.
Much like its rival Shein, Temu has also seen its fair share of criticism over its business. In April, a brief from the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission claimed that the two firms have repeatedly failed to adhere to US laws.
The agency also highlighted that at there have 235 complaints lodged against Temu in the last year.
Recently, Temu filed a lawsuit against Shein for allegedly using unfair and deceptive practices against US suppliers.
Meanwhile, short-video app TikTok is rolling out a new ecommerce program to sell Chinese goods to US consumers, according to the Wall Street Journal.
