In brief: Kakao launches e-bike sharing service in South Korea
- South Korea’s mobile messenger operator Kakao enters the e-bike sharing segment with its latest “micro-mobility” service called Kakao T Bike.
- Kakao Mobility, the transportation service unit of Kakao, had put the brakes on its carpool operation as the industry faced fierce opposition from taxi drivers last year.
- The company will begin its service in Yeonsu District of Incheon City and various parts of Seongnam City. It plans to start with a fleet of 400 bikes in each city and gradually expand it to 1,000 by year-end.
