StumbleUpon Should Include Indonesia as an Interest

To us, StumbleUpon is a platform where we can share and consume content, and connect with new readers. In some ways it’s like a random blind date. And happily, we’ve picked up many new readers through the social bookmarking site.

I know this because from time to time people who StumbleUpon our site have emailed us their compliments; plus a fair share of people have given us suggestions or tips on things that they would like to read on our blog. So the feedback, both negative and positive, is always welcomed as we walk this blogging journey with you.

StumbleUpon is Asia-friendly. I mean, it is one of the few American web 2.0 sites that actually dedicates “Interest (or topics)” for Asia. Not only that, but also at a country specific level — China, India, Korea, and Japan are all good topics to watch. But one major Asian country is missing — Indonesia. And we feel it’s about time for StumbleUpon to introduce Indonesia to its 15 million stumblers.

Indonesia is an exciting country. Its tech and entrepreneurship scenes are booming. It has a huge population that speaks a common language — very similar to large market like the U.S, China, and Japan. It also has many problems though. But problems bring opportunities and we have witnessed local solutions to solve these problems. And that attracts investors – not just local investors but also people from abroad are keeping an eye on Indonesia.

It isn’t just tech that makes it a country to watch. Indonesia has some of the most gorgeous islands in the world (Bali is great, but if it doesn’t suit your taste then Indonesia has 17,000 more islands for you to choose from). My brief write-up here can’t do justice to Indonesia’s growth. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see how much potential Indonesia has on all fronts.

So we’re hoping that StumbleUpon can consider Indonesia as a topic for its users to stumble upon. We have sent an email to the folks at StumbleUpon to see if we can convince them to do so.
