Stripe has announced a partnership with OpenAI to power payments and subscriptions for the latter’s tools such as ChatGPT and Dall-E. The global fintech major will provide features such as billing, checkout, and tax compliance services, according to this statement.
Stripe will charge a small fee for every transaction processed by its platform.
“Beyond payments, Stripe is helping us with everything from recurring billing and tax compliance to automating our financial operations,” said Peter Welinder, OpenAI VP of product and partnerships.
GPT-4, the AI firm’s new natural language tech, will also be integrated into Stripe’s products and services.
OpenAI aims to monetize its products due to widespread public interest in its chatbot. In February, the firm introduced a premium subscription service called ChatGPT Plus, which costs US$20 per month.
This partnership is a boost for Stripe, which just raised more than US$6.5 billion in at a US$50 billion valuation – almost half of its US$95 billion valuation in 2021.
