Ah July, video game retail’s dead month. There are no new releases to speak of (barring The Last of Us Remastered) as every publisher is busy ramping up for the crucial period between September and November. In India, it’s also raining like crazy, which ensures that footfalls at retail are at their lowest. This makes it a perfect month to start a sale, and three of India’s biggest retailers have decided to do just that. Here’s a roundup of what they have to offer.

1. Games The Shop
Currently offering up to 70 percent off on a host of games, what Games The Shop lacks in must-buy games, it makes up in steep discounts. With new games added every day, offers are valid both online and at its stores. Some of the standout deals include Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Playstation 3 at INR 2499 (approx. $41.50) marked down from INR 4299 (around $71.50), and Bioshock: Infinite for PC at INR 499 ($8.29) instead of the usual INR 999 ($16.61).
2. Game4u
Much like Games The Shop, all physical products on Game4u are available both online and at stores. Not to be outdone by the competition, it’s offering up to 75 percent off on games. Solid buys include Saints Row IV on the Xbox 360 at INR 1499 (around $30, that’s 50 percent off the retail price here) and Don Bradman Cricket 14 at INR 3299 (almost $55). While the latter just amounts to a paltry 11 percent off the usual retail price, it’s a better bargain with a ton of cool extras versus the digital version that’s just $5 less.

3. Flipkart
Don’t let the homepage of India’s biggest online retailer fool you. Sure, Flipkart’s focus is squarely on gadgets and lifestyle, but there are some bargains on gaming to be had. The games section has a sale wherein games across platforms are at INR 999 ($16.60) or below. Decent deals include the complete edition LA Noire (DLC et al) on PC for INR 249 (around $4) and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary for the Xbox 360 for INR 959 (almost $16).
