The first-ever Walkabout Singapore, held last year, brought people to tech companies. Now, a new initiative has a similar aim but is going about it differently.
Instead of walking to an office under the hot sun, participants in Startup Bus Asia will be transported to startups in air-conditioned comfort.
The first bus ride, scheduled for 10 April, is confirmed, and it will bring students from the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) to four companies: PropertyGuru, Brandtology, Dropmysite and Zopim.
Each visit will last between 30 to 45 minutes, and students will be treated to sharing by the co-founders and early employees of the companies.
A second trip has been fixed on 10 May, this time transporting postgraduate students from the Nanyang Technopreneurship Centre. The destinations have not been set.
According to organizer Ben Chew, Startup Bus could eventually feature trips to Malaysia and Thailand.
Ben is also responsible for Startup Jobs Asia, a website that hosts job postings at startups for free. He is an angel investor in TribeHired.
