Software is eating the world…show some respect to technical people

1. As a developer turned CEO of my own company and having a fair share of mingling around few startups communities. I’ve seen a number of cases where “techies” (developers/sys admin/tech-support) got abused by the “non-techies” ( MBAs, Marketing, Consultants, Sales, CEO from non-tech background) in their pursuit of achieving the unicorn status.
2. Techies are meant to be squeezed and work 16 hours per day with due date is yesterday.
3. One example that is still fresh in my mind… is how this guy (Ruby dev) got persuaded to join a Fin-tech and only to be humiliated publicly later when the CEO asked the dev community to audit his work. (I’ve seen his work, nothing wrong…maybe the trust is gone between the two).
4. The most common grumble/question by non-techs :
   Why developing web/app or new feature takes longer than estimated? Some of them even suspected that the techies have sort of a union to give employers hard time.
5. Is this the right time for techies to band up? After all, they play an important role in enabling a startup to achieve unicorn status or a country to achieve smart nation status. Show some respect to the techies yeah.
