Wow. One year has passed and today is already the second day of 2011. A lot has happened in the area of social media and technology last year.
But what are the major highlight and milestones of 2010? Mindjumpers has attempted to tell us all that in an infographic. Scrolling down the long piece of timeline has brought back a lot of memories… just that, a lot of these are about Facebook.
Truthfully speaking, Facebook has bashed the other technology websites in 2010. It isn’t just in the technology and user base aspects. In terms of media limelight, Facebook has snatched it all too. Credit given to the movie, ‘The Social Network’ and when Facebook Chief Mark Zuckeckerg was featured on The Oprah Winfrey show as he donated over $100 million to improving education in Newark, New Jersey. And let’s not forget that he also went on to be the TIME’s 2010 Person of the Year, which added a perfect finishing touch to a glorious 2010.
2011 is a fresh year and I seriously wonder what will happen. I have written 8 trends to watch in 2011 but these are trends, not the actual happenings for the year. Will the cold war between Facebook and Google erupt into a heated battle? Will Foursquare and Gowalla perish under the supremacy of Facebook Places? How much more users can Twitter and Facebook gain this year? We will see. But one thing that I’m pretty sure is that many companies would definitely be setting up offices in China. With over 420 million Internet users and 1.3 billion in population, the market is just too attractive to be missed.
