Singapore-based VC firm Resolution Ventures has announced the final close of its inaugural fund at an undisclosed sum.

With the Resolution Fintech Fund I, the company aims to back Southeast Asian fintech startups in the pre-seed and seed stages. It will focus on areas such as insurance, international payments, and regulation.

“We were aware that there aren’t any other funds that are focused on seed-stage fintech that work deeply with their portfolio companies in Southeast Asia so there is the need for sector specialists,” Sam Gibb, managing partner at Resolution Ventures, told Tech in Asia.

The fund’s ticket size for investments ranges from US$250,000 to US$750,000. It prioritizes startups capable of hitting breakeven before seeking additional external funding.

Gibb added that the VC firm is currently paying close attention to Vietnam and the Philippines.
