Former Doctor Anywhere CEO’s new pet telehealth startup bags seed funding

ZumVet, a pet telehealth company based in Singapore, announced it has raised a seven-digit US dollar amount of seed funding in a round led by Pine Venture Partners.

Singapore-based Aetius Capital and Purpose Venture Capital also participated in the round.

Through ZumVet, pet owners can have online consultations and even schedule house visits with a vet. The platform also provides its users with digital medical record and medicine delivery services for their pets.

ZumVet will use the fresh funds to accelerate the development of its remote-care solutions and fuel its growth across the region. It plans to launch in Hong Kong in June 2021.

“What we want to do is to become the first natural touchpoint for pet owners, and eventually use this data to then drive efficient and more cost-effective treatments for common conditions,” said ZumVet CEO and co-founder Athena Lee.

The company also shared that the Covid-19 pandemic has catalyzed its growth, with its number of users in Singapore increasing by 8x over the last six months. Last year, ZumVet won second place at our Startup Arena Pitch Battle, which is part of our annual Tech in Asia conference.

Lee founded ZumVet in 2019 together with Grace Su, who also serves as the startup’s chief operating officer. Lee is the former chief executive of Doctor Anywhere, a healthtech company that has raised more than US$25 million in funding to date.
