Singapore-based tech group Smile Group has named Billy Naveed as its chief strategy officer.
Experience:
- Naveed spent the last two years at fashion marketplace Zilingo as head of strategy. Apart from managing the company’s US business, he helped its fintech unit and assisted with the acquisition of nCinga, a software-as-a-service business based in Sri Lanka.
- Prior to Zilingo, he worked at Morgan Stanley in London and Hong Kong for 18 years as well as at Credit Suisse in Hong Kong.

- Naveed established a charity called Young Founders School that helps high school students become entrepreneurs through online courses and mentorship. The organizaton is sponsored by Credit Suisse, Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund, and Tokopedia.
- In April 2020, Zilingo laid off less than 5% of its 900-member global workforce as it implemented “company-wide restructuring measures.”
