In brief: Singapore residents could soon pay for things in China using Nets, says sources
Singapore electronic payments provider Nets is in talks with Tencent Holdings’ WeChat Pay to allow users of its NetsPay digital wallet to make mobile payments in mainland China, according to people familiar with the discussions.
The partnership will allow NetsPay users to scan QR codes in stores accepting WeChat Pay on the mainland and settle purchases in Singapore dollars, said the people.

The deal, which has yet to be finalized yet, could expand WeChat Pay’s user base even further, especially once it enters similar arrangements with local payment systems in other countries. For Singapore residents, it will add a lot of convenience whenever they transact in China, since WeChat Pay is an ubiquitous mode of payment in the country.
