Indonesia smart city app completes series A round

Indonesian smart city platform Qlue has obtained an undisclosed capital injection from Telkom Indonesia-owned MDI Venture. The infusion also marked the completion of Qlue’s series A funding round led by Global Digital Prima Venture, which began in 2017.

The Jakarta-based startup will use the fresh funding to expand its talent pool for the development of internet-of-things and AI products on its platform.

Founded in 2016, Qlue works closely with the Jakarta provincial government to implement the first “smart city” concept in the country. The Qlue platform allows citizens to identify issues around their respective neighborhoods and report them to the government using a mobile application.

In 2018, over 100,000 reports were submitted by Jakarta citizens through the Qlue app, with the local government doing follow-ups on more than 82 percent of them.

Since its inception, Qlue has established more than 50 collaborations in the security, independent city, governance, and post-disaster management sectors, along with various government and corporate partners across Indonesia.
