Go-Jek says ‘no evidence found’ after claims that fraudsters gamed CNY incentives

Ride-hailing drivers in Singapore have complained that some among their number are gaming incentives offered by Go-Jek. However, the company said it has not found any evidence to support such claims.

During last week’s Lunar New Year period, Go-Jek Singapore awarded a S$508 (US$374) payout on top of earnings to the top 10 drivers who completed the most rides each day from February 4 to 7.

But drivers have claimed in social media posts that some of those who were shortlisted for the payout may have cheated.

Some have posted screenshots showing drivers supposedly completing around 70 trips or even more in a single day over the festive period.

Commenters – some of whom appear to be Go-Jek drivers – suggest that such high ride numbers cannot be achieved by a single driver in a single day, and must have been the result of fraudulent activity. They variously suggest that the alleged culprits were marking jobs as complete without actually picking up and dropping off passengers – a tactic that some fraudsters have already been using in Singapore.
