The ideas.inc. Business Challenge held their semi-finals last week where participants had to impress a panel of judges after enduring two prior rounds of judging: Preliminary and Quarter-final rounds. [Disclosure: I was one of the judges.] 6 finalists emerged and these 6 will now have three months and up to S$50,000 of commercialisation funds through the YES! Start-up scheme by SPRING Singapore to begin commercialising their products and services.
For those who are unfamiliar, the ideas.inc. challenge is organized by the Nanyang Technopreneurship Center (NTC) and began in August 2009 and this is the inaugural competition. A total of about 200 teams (or 500 individuals) participated and after two rounds of judging, 15 semi-finalist teams were chosen.
These 15 teams were given three months (January to March 2010) and up to S$15,000 of idea development funds in order to build prototypes and conduct more in-depth market research of their idea. And as you already know the semi-final presentations were held last week. We would like congratulate Care Inc, Coating Concepts, Give.sg, In Vitro, Manga Castle and Soyato for reaching the finals and wish them all the best!
