Sulit and OLX: two top Philippine online classifieds sites merge

Sulit.com.ph, currently the Philippines’ leading online classified ads platform has announced its merger with the Philippine arm of OLX, a global buy-and-sell site.

This merger means that all users who will access OLX Philippines are already being redirected to Sulit’s website. However, all posted advertisements by registered users on OLX won’t be migrated, so they will have to repost them on Sulit.

In an announcement by Sulit founder RJ David to all its users, he says this move is part of a strategy to strengthen its “number one position as the fastest and easiest way for Filipinos to buy and sell stuff.”

Sulit currently has around two million registered users and 700,000 daily unique visitors on its platform.

Both backed by South Africa-based media group Naspers, the merger also means that Sulit now joins the OLX network. Prior to this merger, OLX Philippines was the third leading classified ads platform in the country in terms of user-base.

Apart from the two mentioned sites, 701 Search’s Ayos Dito is the second-largest local player in the Philippines’ online classified space.
