Catch Florian Jourda, Silicon Valley startup Box’s first hired engineer, next month in Kuala Lumpur

If you’re looking for inspiration, this is one meetup you won’t want to miss. Currently on a tour around Asia, Florian Jourda, Silicon Valley startup Box’s seventh employee and first hired engineer will be making a pit stop in Kuala Lumpur in an event brought to you by Tech in Asia and MaGIC on August 13. You can also meet a lot of startups and entrepreneurs in a cosy setting.
Florian will share insights into Box’s history and strategies leading up to its success. The content management and collaboration platform thrived in an extremely competitive market and grew from strength to strength, eventually going public early this year. The journey wasn’t always smooth, but as with the company’s pivot from targeting the consumer market to the enterprise market, we’re positive, Florian will have plenty to share on abandoning Plan A for better odds.
Above and beyond the company’s commercial success, Florian will also be discussing Box’s pride – its carefully crafted culture that survived the explosive growth over the past eight years, not a feat many can claim. There will be a Q&A session at the end, in case you missed your chance at his AMA appearance this month!
Join us to glean valuable insights on what makes a successful product, learn about the importance of company culture, and enjoy mingling with like-minded individuals at the networking session after.

Speaker
Florian Jourda was the first hired engineer at Box, cloud service for enterprise content management and collaboration. In his eight years with Box, he saw the startup grow from 7 to 1,300 employees and go public. As principal architect, he was involved in building many strategic products and solving Box’s most critical technical problems. He also played a key role in defining and maintaining the amazing company culture during the explosive growth.
After 10 years in Silicon Valley, Florian is now moving back to France to bring back best practices about technology and organizational scaling as a permanent advisor of the French accelerator TheFamily.
He is currently working on a new startup project and is travelling in Asia to get inspired by the problems that entrepreneurs are trying to solve in the region.
