Indonesia’s startup funding exploded in 2015 (INFOGRAPHIC)
It’s no secret anymore that Indonesia’s startup scene is growing bigger every year. 2015 was no exception. Many startups that raised seed rounds in 2014, like BrideStory, Berry Kitchen, Ruangguru, and Tripvisto, topped up with follow-on rounds in 2015.
In 2014, we reported 36 startup investments in Indonesia. There were about two to three funding deal announcements each month at that time. In 2015, that number doubled. On average, there were about six to eleven funding news announcements every month. There were around 27 seed funding deals and 30 series A rounds in Indonesia in 2015.

These numbers are a good indicator of the growing interest in Indonesia’s tech industry.
Our list only covers startups that announced publicly their funding rounds. I’ve excluded startups that raised cash from incubators, accelerators, and crowdfunding sites. So the amount is slightly lower compared to our database. Inevitably, a lot of deals involved sums of cash that weren’t disclosed; they’re not on this list either.
Most of the startups attracting VC money are doing ecommerce.
