Indonesia-based logistics firm Shipper has laid off 65 employees, or about 8% of its workforce, citing “uncertainties in the macroeconomic condition in the upcoming year.”

The startup says affected staff will receive a compensation package in accordance with local laws, get an extension to their health insurance, become part of an outplacement program, and receive other support to help them secure new opportunities.
In a statement, Shipper’s co-founder and chief executive, Phil Opamuratawongse, said that the “tough decision” had to be made after “a thorough assessment of our business.”

Launched in 2017, Shipper offers a multicourier shipping platform and a distributed warehousing and fulfillment network for online sellers.
Last year, it raised US$63 million in a series B funding round led by DST Global Partners and Sequoia Capital India.
