Sex Education For Indonesians Now Online

ZoyaAmirin.com

Taking about sex in eastern countries that have strong cultural and religious bonds, such as Indonesia, is still considered taboo. But people are also aware that everybody deserves good health and sex education. Zoya Amirin is one of the few who has taken a bold step to spread such knowledge through the internet.

As the only woman in Indonesia who is certified as a sexual psychologist, Zoya feels the importance in giving the right information about a healthy sexual life to people in this country. To that effect she created ZoyaAmirin.com, a website that’s dedicated to sex education in Indonesia. Launched this September, the website is in Indonesian and contains news, articles, and an online chat feature with members about health and sex.

Zoya explained to the Jakarta Globe about this free online consultation service :

I am working together with the Ministry of Health for the chat. We want to give sex and porn addicts the chance to talk about their problems.”

The website also has a series of 15-minute video podcasts feauring local TV presenter Chantal Della Concetta, which will also be aired on IniTV regularly.

Zoya adds:

It’s not just the usual question-and-answer talk show, but more like a conversation between friends. We want to keep it casual, but at the same time informative, with scientific facts.

The site is still new, and already has already had more than 15,600 viewers since it first launched two weeks ago. Zoya realised that there might be some negative reaction from traditional or religious groups, or it could have been overrun with crude jokes.

The website is created with good intentions, and based on accurate science. Hopefully this is a good step to a better and freer knowledge of sexual health for Indonesians.
