Synqa rebrands to Opn, raises $120m in series C+

Synqa, a Japan- and Thailand-based fintech firm, has rebranded to its subsidiary’s name Opn as it bagged US$120 million in a series C+ round led by JIC Venture Growth Investments, MUFG Bank, and Mars Growth Capital.

This brings the firm’s total capital raised to US$222 million to date.

Founded in 2015, the entity now known as Opn is the parent firm of Omise, which provides online payments and blockchain tech. Before the name change, Opn focused on digital transformation services.

“The new Opn represents our expanded vision starting today. We are a full-funnel fintech platform which enables everyone to bypass the difficult-to-navigate payment experience that exists today,” said Jun Hasegawa, CEO and founder of Opn.

The company said that the rebrand comes as it aims to accelerate its global expansion efforts. Opn plans to take its borderless commerce support beyond Japan and Southeast Asia.
