SG platform for developers nets funding from Japanese fund
Singapore-based Sentient, a startup that offers solutions that help developers to build AI and data-driven solutions more easily, has secured an undisclosed amount of funding in its latest round.

- Lead investor: Japan’s Real Tech Fund, a joint venture fund between the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry and New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)
- Stage: Series B1

- Sentient said its AI and data platform has over 60 functions that software developers can “assemble like Lego blocks.”
- The firm plans to use the fresh capital to scale its platform and expand its business into more Asia-Pacific markets, including Japan. Sentient is the third company Real Tech Fund has invested in.
- To date, the Singapore-based firm has raised more than US$6 million in funding since it was established in May 2017. Its backers include A*ccelerate Technologies and Beenext, as well as Japan-based companies such as Digital Garage Group and ABC Dream Ventures.
- The latest round follows Sentient’s series A raise last year, which the firm planned to use in order to meet increasing demand related to digital transformation and for setting up sales offices in Japan.
