Vonage brings WhatsApp payments to Singapore

Vonage, a global cloud communications company, has teamed up with WhatsApp as a business solution provider to enable payments on the messaging app in Singapore.

Vonage Conversational Commerce is aimed at improving supports customer buying experiences across various messaging, social, and web platforms. It supports WhatsApp, Messenger, Apple Business Chat, Instagram, Twitter, SMS, LINE, and Google Business Messages, among others.

Powered by Singapore-based firm Jumper.ai, the tool allows businesses and consumers to complete shopping transactions within WhatsApp, from browsing products to making payments.

This feature also uses Vonage’s communications application programming interfaces to let buyers have live video chats with in-store associates or customer service agents. This enables consumers to have personal conversations about products from anywhere and helps retailers build trust with customers.

Some companies already using Vonage’s WhatsApp payments solution include fitness studio NoExcuses and homeware firm Tyetye.

US-based Vonage acquired Jumper.ai in 2021. Founded in 2017, the shopper engagement startup had grown to onboard brands like Disney, Unilever, Samsung, and Jollibee at the time of the acquisition.
