1. Emberify | India
Emberify, the startup behind mobile app Instant, wants to promote a healthy balance between our real lives and those that we live on our smartphones. The app monitors and visualizes how often the user unlocks their phone and how much accumulated time the screen is active. A minimalist readout shows the metrics and charts them on a bar graph.
2. MakanLuar | Indonesia
MakanLuar prides itself on curating content guides for consumers who are looking to dine at popular restaurants where bookings are often necessary, and is focused on quality of service and content. There is also a loyalty program in which diners can rack up “cash points” that they can then use to subtract from the cost of the final bill. Besides cash points, MakanLuar offers perks and GrabTaxi rides with its meals.
3. Setipe | Indonesia
Launched in late 2013, Setipe is an anonymous dating website from Jakarta with a rigorous matching process that drip feeds users just one match per day. The startup claimed that it has 1.7 million potential couples matched, half a million conversations facilitated, and five bona fide marriages as a result of its service.
4. Housing | India
Housing is a real estate portal which began as a rental search platform in Mumbai. It now offers everything from youth hostels and paying guest accommodation to new housing projects, plots of land, legal agreements online, and even home loans across 50 Indian cities. Most of all, it pioneered the use of mobile map-based technology to locate and verify the listings on its site. The company recently raised US$122 million in all from SoftBank, Falcon Edge, and other investors.
5. PocketMarket | Philippines
Philippine startup PocketMarket wants to simplify social commerce through its platform. Merchants are able to do five key things on PocketMarket: manage their social media posts, reply to inquiries, receive orders, send invoices, and accept payments.
6. Bornevia | Indonesia
Bornevia, an SaaS startup which offers customer relationship management (CRM) software, announced this week that it has raised an undisclosed amount of pre-series A funding from East VentuFres and Beenos Partners.
