Salesforce invests in Indian fintech unicorn Razorpay

Salesforce Ventures, the venture capital arm of the American customer relationship management firm, has invested an undisclosed amount in Razorpay to expand its business-banking platform,” Livemint reported.

Details:

  • The fresh financing deal may have pushed Razorpay’s valuation to over US$3 billion, the report noted.
  • The Indian payment gateway firm will use the fresh capital and Salesforce’s network to expand into Southeast Asia. Razorpay will also build new products for Southeast Asian countries.

Dive deeper:

  • Razorpay has grown rapidly over the past year, hitting unicorn status in October 2020 after bagging US$100 million in its series D round. It has also reportedly been in talks with large global funds to raise about US$200 million to US$250 million at a valuation of nearly US$4 billion.
  • The company recently acquired lending firm Tera Finlabs and co-led a US$1 million round for edtech startup MSMEx
