Malaysia: are you joining the Dota 2 and CS:GO tournaments at the Festival Belia Putrajaya?

Malaysian eSports fans are in for a treat with inclusion of three eSports tournaments in the Festival Belia Putrajaya this weekend. The three-day tournament will be hosted by the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports in cooperation with Orange eSports and EClub Malaysia over May 23 to 25.

There will be two tournaments for Dota 2 and one for Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO).

The National Collegiate Cyber Championship 2014

The regional qualifiers will follow a single elimination format with best-of-one series matches. The venue will be based on the location of the college or university that the team is from. The top eight teams from the regional qualifiers will then move on to an offline grand finals on the festival day itself. The tournament will have a RM 5,000 ($1,556.91) prize pool with the following distribution:

• 1st – RM 2,500 ($778.45)
• 2nd – RM 1,500 ($467.07)
• 3rd – RM 600 ($186.83)
• 4th – RM 400 ($124.55)

Open Dota 2 Championship

With the aim to “provide a competitive platform for the top Malaysian Dota 2 players”, the Open Dota 2 Championship will give amateur teams a chance to compete not only against each other, but also against the top Dota 2 pro Malaysian teams today, namely Orange eSports, Arrow Gaming, Invasion, and Nara Stacks. According to an article by GosuGamers, Team Titan was initially included in the list, but schedule conflict prevented them from joining.

The tournament will be capped at 32 teams, with the top four teams going against the top invited teams. None of the top eight teams will go empty handed, though. Each of them will receive cash prizes in the following distribution:

• 1st– RM 5,000 ($1,556.91)
• 2nd– RM 2,500 ($778.45)
• 3rd– RM 1,000 ($311.38)
• 4th– RM 500 ($155.69)
• 5th– RM 300 ($93.41)
• 6th– RM 300 ($93.41)
• 7th– RM 200 ($62.28)
• 8th– RM 200 ($62.28)
