In brief: Social ecommerce app Xiaohongshu pulled from Chinese app stores
- Chinese social ecommerce platform Xiaohongshu, which is known as Red overseas, was pulled from major Android stores in the country, the Global Times reported.
- Xiaohongshu couldn’t be downloaded in stores such as those of Huawei, Oppo, Meizu, and Tencent’s Yingyongbao.
- Some industry insiders said the reason behind the removal may be linked to problems concerning falsified “users’ notes” to hike product sales.
- The company said it is now in talks with relevant regulators to reach a solution, but it is unclear on when the app will be available again on app stores.
