Within a decade China will become the largest economy in the world. It’s a huge market but also one that is difficult to understand.
One tip given by Martin Jacques, is that China isn’t like the West and it will not become like the West. So, don’t look at China through the Western lenses.
To understand China, Jacques explores three building blocks in his TED talk: (1) China as a civilization state, (2) the Chinese as a unity race and (3) China’s relationship between state and society.
The talk also went on to talk about the arrogance of Westerners when trying to understand China. True enough, the West is powerful and influential and Asians are required to understand the West better. However, Jacques sees that the West is slowly losing power. On top of that, he believes that Europeans are oblivious to this change.
China is poised to be the world leader in the future. The hint could be traced back to thousands of years ago whereby Chinese inventions are superior and even exists till today.
