KKR hits $15b in final close of its latest Asia Pacific fund

Global investment firm KKR announced that its latest Asia Pacific fund has hit a final close of US$15 billion.

Focused on private equity deals across the region, the KKR Asian Fund IV is set to invest about US$1.3 billion in capital alongside fund investors through KKR and its employees’ commitments, according to a statement.

Through Asian Fund IV, the investment firm plans to capitalize on opportunities stemming from rising consumption and urbanization trends. The fund, which will cover different sectors and markets, also aims to look for corporate carve-outs, spin-offs, and consolidations as companies optimize their portfolios.

Asian Fund IV will be led by a team of about 70 investors across eight offices in six major Asia Pacific markets. They will be supported by KKR Capstone’s and KKR Capital Markets’ locally based capital market experts who will be plugging into their global networks and local market knowledge and relationships.

Since launching its Asia Pacific platform in 2005, KKR said it now has over US$30 billion in assets under management in the region. Its Asia Pacific private equity portfolio currently includes investments in about 60 companies across 11 countries.

The investment firm’s announcement comes just months after it hit the final closing of its pan-regional infrastructure and real estate funds: the US$3.9 billion Asia Pacific Infrastructure Investors Fund and the US$1.7 billion Asia Real Estate Partners Fund.
