Launched November 2010, the pioneer of emoji reactions was already on a death spiral by May 2015 when the US-based app was acquired by the South Korean firm behind KakaoTalk.
That acquisition was a last gasp at Path’s salvation in Indonesia, where it had gathered a cult following.
Path will be removed from the app stores on October 1, then the lights will go out on October 18.
