Product innovation studio, Proof talks: Why requirements are hypotheses in disguise

No one admits it but software planning and the steps involved – requirements – are just guesses in disguise. Software managers typically devote a large amount of time in pre-planning, outlining every possible scenario, use case, back-end integration point, and business rule. Then they build a project plan, assign a team or choose a vendor, set a ship date, and are inevitably disappointed, frustrated, and compromise vast sums of money if the software fails to take off.

Instead of all this guessing, shouldn’t requirements be treated as mere hypotheses, and be worked on quickly to figure out if they’re right or wrong?

If you have been wondering about this very same problem, perhaps {new context}‘s upcoming event: Turning requirements into hypotheses is just for you! Speakers are Jeff Gothelf and Josh Seiden, founders of Proof in New York, a product innovation studio that combines lean processes with strategy, design and technology. They represent among the best user experience and interaction designers in the industry and are at the forefront of applying lean principles and methods to reliably and predictably deliver great software. Jeff Gothelf and Josh Seiden have been working with software teams to do exactly this. Working closely together in small, cross-functional groups, Agile teams take risk out of software development process by validating requirements in an ongoing way as they are designing and building software. With experience and expertise at their fingertips, come hear Jeff and Josh describe this method of working and learn what it means for you.
