Powerbrain, an Indonesia-based energy startup, has raised an undisclosed amount of pre-seed funding from the Achmad Zaky Foundation, a non-profit organization headed by the Bukalapak founder.

Founded by Irvan Farasatha and Rilwanu Lukman in 2020, Powerbrain helps companies manage and minimize power consumption in their buildings and properties. It can also assist its clients in constructing solar panels or electric vehicle charging solutions.
In a statement, the company said that its platform has helped dozens of companies increase power efficiency in almost 100 buildings. It plans to use the fresh funding for product development and client acquisition purposes.

The Achmad Zaky Foundation is an Indonesian organization that supports science and tech education, entrepreneurship development, social impact initiatives, and breakthrough research, among others.
Besides the foundation, Zaky has also established VC firm Init 6, which has poured funding into companies like cloud service provider IDCloudHost, cloud management platform Awanio, and edtech firm Dibimbing.
In contrast with the Achmad Zaky Foundation, Init 6 is more focused on the tech and scalability aspect of its portfolio firms.
