Nintendo’s Pokemon Bank, the new service that allows you to store up 3,000 Pokemon on the cloud, launched on Christmas day in Japan and has already been pulled down due to server issues. Now don’t be alarmed, there don’t appear to be any issues with the bank itself, but rather Nintendo Network and eShop servers were not equipped to handle the sudden influx of users.
What does this mean for you? Well this means a potential delay for the Pokemon Bank’s international release. The release date has been officially changed to TBA for both the North American and European eShops, but hopefully this will only be a minor delay.
Pokemon Bank can only be used with Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, so be sure to make full use of the bundled Poke Transporter to transfer your pocket monsters from Gen V to Gen IV. Any Pokemon below Gen V will have to be traded into your Pokemon Black/Black 2 or Pokemon White/White 2 cartridge first in order to be transported into the 3D goodness of X and Y.
These new services do have an annual fee of $4.99, but I’m sure the low price point is not going to hinder true Pokefans. We just might have to wait a little longer than expected.
