Early-stage VC firm Picus Capital has named Naman Jhawar, a former executive at Indian gaming unicorn Mobile Premier League, as partner and head of India and Southeast Asia.

Picus aims to invest more in Southeast Asia, focusing on fintech, enterprise software, and climate tech sectors. The Germany-based firm also has an office in Singapore.

With investments spanning pre-seed, seed, and series A rounds, Picus Capital’s global portfolio includes over 170 companies. It focuses on tech firms in areas like financial services, energy, healthcare, logistics, mobility, ecommerce, and Web3.

In his new role, Jhawar will oversee key areas – including India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines – and drive the firm’s new investments into these markets. Jhawar will also provide support, connections, and operational help for founders from the early stages of their ventures.

Before joining Picus Capital, Jhawar served as senior vice president of strategy and operations in Mobile Premier League. Previously, he was also an angel investor and a consultant at McKinsey, specializing in the consumer tech and automotive industries.

Jhawar’s experience in scaling startups, deep understanding of industries and business models, and impressive track record make him an invaluable asset, said Florian Reichert, partner and managing director at Picus Capital.
