China’s Heroes of the Storm publisher merges MOBA with RTS, announces Netease Allstars
League of Legends and Dota 2 dominate the MOBA market in China, but that’s not stopping game publisher Netease from trying to get a piece of the pie—and a rather large one at that. Along with the company’s collaboration with Blizzard to bring Heroes of the Storm to China, Netease has also developed Netease Allstars, a MOBA game with real-time strategy (RTS) elements.

Similar to what Blizzard did with Heroes of the Storm, Netease Allstars will feature popular characters from eight of Netease’s own games, some of which are based off of classic Chinese novels like Journey to the West and Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
But while Netease has done a great job of publishing Blizzard’s titles in China, the company is not enjoying the same vote of confidence for self-developed games. In fact, reactions by Chinese netizens were largely negative:

Don’t be a stupid cunt, nobody’s going to play.

Allstars? I don’t recognize a single one. Not the same feeling as Heroes of the Storm.

How can you call it Allstars when there are no stars?
