Philippine eSports startup, Powerplay eSports, launches its first Dota 2 tournament
Filipino Dota 2 fans, get ready for some more Pinoy Dota 2 action in the Powerplay Dota 2 Invitational, which will feature eight top and two qualifying teams. These are the seven teams that have confirmed attendance so far:
- Execration
- Execration 2
- MSI EvoGT
- Ledion
- Imperium Pro Team
- Arcanys Gaming
- Alapets
There will also be an online qualifier to determine the last two teams who will complete the ten-team tournament. The tournament’s PhP 50,000 ($1130.45) prize pool is one of the biggest ever for a Pinoy-only tournament. Here’s the breakdown:
- 1st – PhP 25,000 ($565.23)
- 2nd – PhP 15,000 ($339.13)
- 3rd – PhP 7,500 ($169.57)
- 4th – PhP 2,500 ($56.52)
There are no definite dates as to when this is happening, but according to a Reddit post from Powerplay, the tournament will be in mid-June and will last for one and a half weeks. The games are also going to be streamed, with Powerplay looking to apply for a Dota 2 in-game spectator ticket.
