Singapore data protection startup nabs funding from US VC firm
Data protection and privacy management platform Dathena today announced it’s closed a funding round led by MS&AD Ventures for an undisclosed amount.
Returning investors CerraCap Ventures and Demetis also participated in the round.
Launched in 2016, Dathena uses natural language processing, machine learning, and deep learning technologies to help organizations comply with data privacy policies, prevent data loss, and secure the data they store in the cloud. Its patented technologies can identify critical data, label files based on their level of confidentiality, and discover and eliminate redundant data, among others.
Dathena will use the cash infusion to “support the global deployment of new large customers,” it said in a statement. The company had previously raised a seed round in November 2018, and it says it’s planning to raise another funding round later this year to scale and establish itself as a market leader.
The startup has offices in Singapore, France, and Switzerland.
