Perfect World reports 11% rise in revenue, expects big things from Dota 2 and Neverwinter in China
China’s Perfect World has reported its Q4 2013 and fiscal year 2013 results, and they’re pretty impressive. Revenue rose 11% from Q3 to Q4, beating the high-end of the company’s own forecasts for revenue growth. And the year-on-year growth results were also good, with the company posting 10.2% growth in FY2013.
But based on the earnings call, it sounds like the company expects even bigger things from 2014. According to CEO Robert Xiao:
Our pipeline contains a number of attractive client-based games, namely the highly-anticipated DOTA 2 and our 3D MMORPG Legend of the Condor Heroes, along with a variety of web and mobile games. DOTA 2 is currently at the initial stage of commercialization and we expect to have a full large-scale launch in China soon. We are also preparing to launch another world-class title, Neverwinter, in China later this year.
Dota 2 is, of course, already available in China, but at the moment it’s running third in the country’s MOBA race, behind League of Legends and Meng San Guo. But Dota 2 has also been available much less time than either of those games, and once it gets a proper rollout, it could well snag a bigger chunk of the market.
