The Philippines’ digital economy has been steadily growing, getting back on its feet after a year-long slump in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. According to Statista data, the growth comes off the back of the country’s solid telecomms industry and professional and business services infrastructure.

Capitalizing on this opportunity, SID Global Solutions (SIDGS) is investing over US$20 million to make the Philippines its digital engineering hub for the Asia-Pacific region. The hub’s main office will be in Manila, the country’s capital.

SIDGS prepares companies for digitalization by providing services such as customer experience analytics, supply chain management, HR platforms, and financial planning and analysis, among others.

While the company is headquartered in the US, it has operations in India, Singapore, UAE, the UK, and the Philippines. Its client base include well-known firms like Singtel, Amazon Web Services, and Lululemon.

Venkat Madipadaga, the company’s founder and chairman, highlighted the increasing importance of the Philippines in terms of tech, thanks to its young and tech-savvy population and growing digital usage in several sectors.

“These factors, along with the country’s strategic location in Southeast Asia and the increasing quality of digital engineers, make the Philippines the ideal location for SIDGS to expand its footprint and serve the growing digital needs of the region,” Madipadaga added.

As part of the investment, SIDGS will establish digital engineering and delivery facilities across the Philippines. It will also implement a digital engineering certification program in partnership with local colleges and universities.
